Vilnius, the capitol of Lithuania, has a fascinating history, much charm and a vibrant spirit. It offers many things to do and places to visit. Vilnius’ Old Town is located on the south side of the river, and you will be delighted by its history and beauty. In 2009, Vilnius will be one of two of Europe’s Capitals of Culture, a recognition of its importance in the Eastern part of Europe.

Some of Vilnius’ essential sites include: the Cathedral; the Gates of Dawn, originally part of the town fortifications; the Higher Castle Museum and the KGB Museum, and St. Anne’s Church. In addition, Vilnius has a fun nightlife, many restaurants, and great shopping.
